FERGUSSON WELCOMES EXTENSION TO NHS CONSULTATION
Following the news that the chairman and chief executive of NHS Dumfries & Galloway have decided to extend the consultation exercise on the future of clinical services, Galloway and Upper Nithsdale MSP Alex Fergusson said:-
“I very much welcome this decision, and commend the Health Board on taking it. Huge numbers of my constituents wish to make their views known at the various public meetings and drop-in sessions that are still to be held across the health board area, and asking them to do so during these exceptionally hard weather conditions is asking them to take risks that they should simply not be required to do.
“I am assured by the Health Board that any meetings that are cancelled will be rearranged during February, and that the extension of the consultation period should ensure that no one is left out of the process. Given the strong opposition to the Health Board’s preferred option that has been brought to my attention, I am sure my constituents will welcome this pragmatic decision. I will be making representations to the Health Board to ensure that they inform all communities when rearranged meetings are to take place so that no one is disadvantaged through a lack of information during this extended process.”
