FERGUSSON ACCEPTS THORNHILL CANCELLATION.

Following the decision by Dumfries & Galloway Health Board to postpone the public meeting that had been arranged to take place in Thornhill on Monday 11th, and which he was going to co-chair, Galloway and Upper Nithsdale MSP Alex Fergusson said:-

"I understand that the decision to cancel the public meeting that was planned to take place in Thornhill on Monday 11th January was taken after the Police had advised against continuing with it. That being the case, I cannot condemn the decision although I completely understand the frustrations of everyone who had been involved in setting it up in the first place and who have put so much effort into ensuring that the very strong feelings of local people were given an opportunity to be heard. It is important that all that work is not wasted.

"The good news is that the decision by the Health Board to extend the consultation exercise by 4 weeks means that the meeting can, and will, be re-arranged, and I have made representations to the Board asking that they inform every household in Mid and Upper Nithsdale of the details of the re-arranged meeting. I will be extremely disappointed if they do not do so, and I look forward to chairing the re-arranged meeting in February."
